My Sex in the 60’s

Donatella Versace said, “I find older men more attractive than boys. I need a man who can teach me a thing or two.” Benjamin Franklin admonished a young man to take an older mistress as “they don’t swell, they don’t tell, and they are grateful as hell.”  Or something like that.  And it hasn’t changed.

A recent New York Times article by Joyce Walder Sex in the 60’s says that now that she is IN her 60’s she finds herself thinking, more than doing because men her age are less than enthusiastic. Or are looking for women in their 40’s.  Or are too tired.

But as a 60 (ahem) something year old woman who has been dating above, and now within, her age group since she was 20 (ahem) something, let me say the vast majority of guys I’ve gone out with over the years “come up”. Regularly, and with vigor, and sometimes more than once.

And unlike the 60’s, this is 2014 in the 21st century.  Even if an older man’s energy is flagging, they either don’t use email or have perfected the art of commercial free DVR fast forwarding to have missed the ED commercials for Viagra, Cialis and Levitra. All covered by insurance and available without embarrassment from their family physician.

Or Canada.

Since I’ve rather agreed not to talk about my fella so as not to embarrass he, or his family, I won’t. (does a tiny “booyah” count?)
